I produce hundreds and hundreds of local business advertisements for Local Life each year, from plumbers to fashion boutiques. In fact almost 80% of the adverts that appear in Local Life are produced by WN6 Creative Design Creative Business Solutions. Keeping them all looking different alone can be a challenge in itself.
But once in a while an advertisement brief comes in you have one and a half hours maximum to produce it, yet the client seems to want an awful lot for the time allowed. Ok, so I don’t write the advertisement copy but pulling it together can be a challenge and a race against time.
This particular advertisement brief for a local garage stated they wanted a German theme, striking, not cheap but professional looking, they submit three car shots (all individual) all three need to be included too. You have a choice, go for the vision you have in your mind or throw it all together to get a job done – remember time is not on your side!!
Well I went for it and completed the advertisement in 1hour 25 mins – which isn’t bad going considering the back ground needed to be created, the 3 car shots needed to put through Photoshop, cut out and then the shadows put back. Ok so it’s not rocket science, but it does go to show there’s more to advertisement design than meets the eye.
